When I first started in marketing, I had no clear direction. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do, but one thing was certain: I wanted to make an impact. Like many others, my journey took unexpected turns, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. During lockdown, I rediscovered my love for reading and found myself diving into topics that truly sparked my interest. Through books, articles, and online communities, I realized how powerful it was to connect with others who shared my passions.
Around this time, I also started feeling a deep drive to experience more of what I loved—one of those things being live music. It was through social media ads and posts that I discovered one of my favorite bands was performing near me. Without hesitation, I decided to go alone. That night was transformative—not just because of the music, but because I realized how powerful live experiences could be in fostering connection. The excitement, the energy, and the shared love for the band created an unspoken bond among everyone there.
But the story didn’t end there. Inspired by my experience, I took the leap and bought another ticket for a show in another state. It was at that concert where I met some of my closest friends, who, like me, were deeply immersed in the online community surrounding the band. It was clear that these communities weren’t just about shared interests; they were about building meaningful relationships, connecting over passions, and creating memories together.
That sense of belonging—whether through online groups or at live events—became a huge part of my life. I began to see marketing not just as selling a product, but as a way to bring people together. Through marketing, I could help foster those same deep connections I had experienced. Whether it’s through social media, live events, or online communities, the ability to engage with like-minded individuals is something that has completely shaped my marketing philosophy.
Looking back, I realize that the key to finding my marketing passion was discovering the power of community engagement. It’s not just about promoting products or services—it’s about creating experiences, building relationships, and sparking connections that leave a lasting impact.
